Letters to Whom

What is this? What do I do?

In this age of email and instant messaging, letter writing has become a lost art. Gone are the days of paper and pen, messy writing, funny aside comments, multiple ink colors, licking envelopes and buying stamps, the small personal touches that tell you “someone did this just for me”, the love and labor and meaningful content that seems so much more real with the stroke of a pen. I don’t want that art to die. I understand the irony of having an internet blog dedicated to letter writing, seemingly against everything I want to keep alive, but the love and labor, the meaningful content can still be replicated, and that is what’s at the heart of a good letter.

So write your letters. Write them to your parents, siblings, friends, your god, nature, a city, ambition, fallacy, hopes, dreams, memories. Write your letters for whoever you want, for whatever reason you want. Make it deep, make it personal, make your thoughts known.

What Do I do?

Simply, just write a letter- how you do it is up to you. You can make a post on here, write one on paper, scan it and post the image. Reply to letters people have posted. No one has to know your real name, where you’re from, what you do, why you write. Just write. Be as open as you want, as creative as you want, as subtle or as blunt as you feel you need to be.  Just be you.
